how do i prep my skin to use tanning products?

To make something great, you need to start with an exfoliated base - so get the dry skin out of here! Hop in the shower, or simply wet your mitt and give your skin a scrub with this Exfoliating Mitt. No water? No problem! This mitt can also be used wet or dry to exfoliate and prime skin. 

Tip: We recommend putting your hair up and wearing a shower cap to keep Tanning Mousse from getting in your hair. You can also apply a barrier cream like conditioner to your hairline.

how do i apply red aspen tanning mousse?

Application Tip: Shake Tanning Mousse well before applying. Store at room temperature.

1. Exfoliate and dry skin. 

2. Moisturize and apply a barrier cream (body lotion or body cream) to dry areas like ankles, knees, elbows, and hands before application. This will ensure tan does not overdevelop. Do not apply moisturizer to other areas. Do not apply perfume or deodorant. 

3. Shake well, then pump Tanning Mousse onto the Tanning Mitt and apply in circular, sweeping motions. One coat goes a long way. 

4. Leave mousse on skin for 4-8 hours (more time = deeper tan), then shower to reveal a sunny glow from head to toe! 

Tip: After applying, wear loose clothing and avoid exercising or getting your skin wet. 

How soon can I shower after using Tanning Mousse? Can I leave Tanning Mousse on overnight? 

You can shower 4-8 hours after application. We recommend leaving it on the full 8 hours for the most intense glow, and fewer hours for a lighter glow. Our Tanning Mousse is a quick-drying formula so you won’t feel sticky sleeping in it! 

How do I tan my back? 

With the Red Aspen Back Applicator, of course! Apply Tanning Mousse to the center of the Back Applicator. Place the applicator behind your back while gripping a handle in each hand. Move the applicator side to side across your back, evenly buffing mousse out across your skin. 

What are your top tanning application tips for hands and feet? 

• Always add a light layer of body cream to your hands and feet to avoid overdevelopment of tanner on your skin’s drier areas. 

• Blend excess Tanning Mousse onto your hands and feet for a more natural finish. 

• At the end of your tanning session, blend your hands, wrists, elbows, wrists, and feet using our Kabuki Brush for a streak-free finish. 

• Wash your hands and palms really well with soap and water when your tanning session is completed. 

What if Tanning Mousse gets in my hair?

Definitely do what you can to avoid getting Tanning Mousse in your hair. We recommend putting your hair up or back when applying Tanning Mousse to prevent any color transfer.

How long will my tan last? How do i maintain my tan?

Your tan will last anywhere from 3-7 days after one application. We recommend exfoliating in between Tanning Mousse application sessions to prep for a new tan! To maintain your tan, moisture is key. You can use Red Aspen Tanning Drops mixed with body cream to extend the life of your Tanning Mousse tan. 

HOW DO I REMOVE EXISTING SELF-TANNER? 

Use the Exfoliating Mitt - dry or wet - to buff away any tanning product from your skin.

Red Aspen Tanning Mousse has an added caramel color in our formula known as a color guide. A color guide means you can see which areas of the body you’ve applied product. It helps keep your tan even and streak-free, but the light, golden base minimizes product transfer to clothes or sheets. An added perk?
